We are saddened to note the passing of our long-term friend and partner in mission, Samuel Wambugu. Samuel has ties to the Knoxville area from his time in a graduate program at the UT Medical Center, Knoxville (UTMCK).He was born October 23, 1951 in Othaya, Nyeri District Central Province, Kenya . He was of the Kikuyu tribe, Agaciku clan. Samuel had recently been diagnosed with kidney failure and was undergoing dialysis in Kenyatta when he suffered cardiac arrest. His burial service will be Friday, June 17.

He and his wife Monica founded and directed Grace School in Limuru, Kenya. It is a private school serving over 100 children in a less-than-ideal area not far from the capital in Nairobi. Many of the students are impoverished, even by their local standards, and the school attempts to address far-reaching issues involving student nutrition, health, and welfare beyond the academic curriculum. The school's website can be seen at http://www.graceministries-limuru.org/ .

Please keep Samuel's wife, Monica, his children, and the staff and children at Grace School in your thoughts and prayers as they move through this difficult time.
Memorial gifts may be sent to Bethel and designated for Grace School. Contact Joe Coen or another member of the SERVE team for more information about the school and Bethel's connection.
