that flourish even when the drought comes.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
*HYMN #446 Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken Austrian Hymn
*CALL TO CONFESSION
*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN
Sustaining God, You would have us deeply rooted in you, finding strength in your word and nourishment in your grace. More often, though, we are like chaff, blown here and there by the winds of circumstance. Forgive our lack of permanency and our failure to hold fast to our commitments. Grow faith in us that we might be firmly planted in the promises of the gospel, released from sin and open to the life you have shown us in Jesus Chris. Amen.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE
Thanks be to God,
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

*HYMN #276 Great Is Thy Faithfulness Faithfulness
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
God keeps his promises and gives us hope.
In the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, God kept his promises. All that we can ever hope for was present in Christ. But the work of God in Christ is not over. God calls us to hope for more than we have yet seen. The hope God gives us is ultimate confidence that supports us when lesser hopes fail us. In Christ, God gives hope for a new heaven and earth, certainty of victory over death, assurance of mercy and judgment beyond death. This hope gives us courage for the present struggle. Amen.
