Sunday Morning Worship Service
March 26, 2006
(Want to see a past Bulletin? Just click HERE)
TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

CALL TO WORSHIP
A great teacher once said, “When Jesus Christ calls us, he bids us come and die.” We are the people who have responded to this call.
Through Christ, we want to die to the fears that keep us from loving.
Through Christ, we want to die to the stubbornness that keeps us from sharing our gifts.
Through Christ, we want to die to seeking our own success and salvation in disregard for the good of all God’s Children.
This is God’s promise, that if we die with Christ, we will also rise with Christ.
God be praised for the glorious promise of new life in Christ. Alleluia! Amen.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
*HYMN #281 Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah CWM Rhondda
*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN
Gracious God, you have given us a sure word, sealed by your Spirit in the free gift of your Son. In Christ you have set us free from bondage, bound up and healed our wounds, and led us into paths of peace. But still we listen to other voices, as though your word were just one among others. God, in your mercy forgive us. Enable us by your Spirit. Amen.
*DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. May the God of mercy, who forgives you all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life.
Thanks be to God! In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Amen.
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE Gloria Patri Hymn #578

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal. Amen.
