Sunday Morning Worship Service
April 10, 2005
TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

*HYMN # 118 The Day of Resurrection! Lancashire
CALL TO CONFESSION
The proof of God's amazing love is this: while we were sinners Christ died for us. Because we have faith in him, we dare to approach God with confidence. In faith and penitence, let us confess our sin before God and one another.
(Silent Prayer)
*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN
Almighty and Eternal God, forgive us our indifference to the good news of your love. We close our eyes to the hurts of the world and yet you call us to recognize you in the life of each other. Each day we have opportunity to give witness to your great love, and yet we make excuses that we dont have time. We are side-tracked from doing your will by distractions of our everyday world. Forgive us our nearsightedness, our apathy and our lack of courage to do your will. Make us bold to be your Easter people, proclaiming your love to all the world. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Our confession is an acknowledgment of our humanness, our need for Gods grace. God has promised that we can be forgiven for our weaknesses, our insensitivities, our cynicism and our lack of faith. We accept this assurance with humility and with the hope that it will lead us toward resurrection. Give thanks to God, for . . .
in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
We are the people of God. We are a sign of the New World. We are the sisters and brothers of Jesus. We believe in God. We believe in the goodness of God, the presence of God in human history, and the nearness of Gods love. We believe in Christ. We believe that God was and is revealed in human life, that out of human suffering may come rescue and healing, that out of death comes new life. We believe in the Eternal Spirit, who moves among Gods people and invites the world into Gods reign. We believe that the world can change, that peace and wholeness can come, and that the New World can arrive. We are the people of God. We are the sign of the New World. We are the brothers and sisters of Jesus. Amen.
