Sunday Morning Worship Service
April 11, 2004
TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
*HYMN # 123 Jesus Christ Is Risen Today Easter Hymn
*A TIME OF SILENT CONFESSION
*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN
Almighty God, in raising Jesus from the grave, you shattered the power of sin and death. We confess that we remain captive to doubt and fear, bound by the ways that lead to death. We overlook the poor and the hungry, and pass by those who mourn; we are deaf to the cries of the oppressed, and indifferent to calls for peace; we despise the weak, and abuse the earth you made. Forgive us, God of mercy. Help us to trust your power to change our lives and make us new, that we may know the joy of life abundant given in Jesus Christ, the risen Lord. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Hear the good news! Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The past is finished and gone; a new life has begun. Friends, believe this good news:
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE I Danced in the Morning
Hymn # 302
They cut Me down and I leap up high: I am the life that will never, never die;
Ill live in you if youll live in Me: I am the Lord of the Dance, said He.
Dance, then wherever you may be; I am the Lord of the Dance, said He;
And Ill lead you all, wherever you may be, And Ill lead you all in the dance, said He.

*RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 118:1-2,14-24
Give thanks for the goodness of God, whose loving kindness is forever. The sovereign God, my strength and my song, gives me victory in battle; songs of rejoicing are heard in the homes of the godly.
This is the day of your victory!
The strong arm of God is triumphant; I live to recite what God has done. Open the gates of the temple for me, that I may go in and offer my thanks.
This is the day of your victory!
Thank you, O God, for hearing my prayer, for coming to rescue me. The stone the builders rejected has been shown to be of worth; this is your doing, O God. How wonderful it is!
This is the day of your victory!
