TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

Youth Sunday
April 23, 2006
11:00 a.m.

GREETING, WORDS OF WELCOME, RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another.

And the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanseth us from all sin.

PRELUDE

CALL TO WORSHIP   Ellen Dailey

From different generations, with different needs,

We gather as one people, joined in the Spirit of God.

Give us the words to say and the songs to sing that will glorify you, most holy God!

We gather to worship God, let us praise God’s name.

PRAYER OF THE DAY   Ellen Dailey

*HYMN   Sanctuary (sing twice)

Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary
Pure and Holy, tried and true
with thanksgiving, I’ll be a living
Sanctuary for you.

*CALL TO CONFESSION   Eden Sherrod

God promises to love us and forgive us, even when we do things that are wrong and fail to live the way we know we should live. With God all things are possible – even pardoning our sins! Let us confess our sins together.

*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN   Eden Sherrod

Almighty God, You have the answers to all our questions. Why then, do we seek our answers elsewhere? Why do we pursue vain idols, which cannot help, and ignore the God whose power can do anything? Even when we try to do your will, Oh Lord, we still look other places for our comfort. Forgive us, oh God of mercy, and strengthen our faith in what you have told us. Because in Faith, we believe you. Amen.

*WORDS OF ASSURANCE   Eden Sherrod

We have heard of your miracles and felt your love. We put our faith in you.

Thanks be to God. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE   Gloria Patri   Hymn #578

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

MOMENT WITH THE SENIOR CITIZENS   Jacob Murr

SERMON    Faith   Max Ladue, Jordan Sherrod

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH   Josh McCaslin

This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day, and that he appeared first to the women, then to Peter, and to the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; he is our Lord and our God. Amen.

SHARING OF PRAYER CONCERNS   Frederick Morgan

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND LORD’S PRAYER   Frederick Morgan

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION   Zack McCaslin

*HYMN #302 I Danced in the Morning   Simple Gifts

*CHARGE AND BLESSING   Jacob Murr

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE   Let There Be Peace on Earth

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me,
Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father, brothers all are we,
Let me walk with my brother, in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now,
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow,
To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me!

*POSTLUDE
