TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

GREETINGS, WORDS OF WELCOME, RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRELUDE

CALL TO WORSHIP

This is Holy ground.

We’re standing on Holy ground.

For God is present.

And where God is, is Holy.

NEW TESTAMENT READING   1 Corinthians 12: 4-11

*HYMN #464   Spirit of the Living God   Living God

*CALL TO CONFESSION

Surely, if we say there is no sin in us, we might deceive ourselves, but God knows the truth. Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.

*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN

Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can change; and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image; through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.

DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS

The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. May the God of mercy, who forgives you all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen.

OLD TESTAMENT READING   Micah: 6:6-8

SHARING OF PRAYER CONCERNS AND PRAYER

INTERCESSION FOR HEALING   Robert Raines

Health is a matter of wholeness and not perfection. Health has to do with being real and offering our sins, mistakes and brokenness as multicolored threads to be woven into a rich tapestry of humanity by the healing grace of God.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Gracious God, source of all healing, in Jesus Christ you heal the sick and mend the broken. We bless you for this oil made from the fruits of the earth, given to us as a sign of healing and forgiveness, and to the fullness of life you give. By your Spirit, come upon all who are anointed with this oil that they may receive your healing touch and be made whole, to the glory of Jesus Christ our Redeemer. And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray as He taught us to pray: Our father . . .

LAYING ON OF HANDS AND ANOINTING WITH OIL

Those desiring the laying on of hands and anointing with oil come forward.

You may make your request known to Rev. Bill Shenk or Debbie Hyder, Parish Nurse.

*HYMN #485 To God Be the Glory   To God Be the Glory

DEDICATION OF NURSESPAST AND PRESENT

Blessed be these hands that have touched life.

Blessed be these hands that have felt pain.

Blessed be these hands that have embraced with compassion.

Blessed be these hands that have been clenched in anger, or withdrawn in fear.

Blessed be these hands that have drawn blood and administered medicine.

Blessed be these hands that have cleaned beds and disposed of wastes.

Blessed be these hands that have anointed the sick and offered blessings.

Blessed be these hands that grown stiff with age.

Blessed be these hands that have comforted the dying and held the dead.

Blessed be these hands, we hold the future in these hands.

Blessed be our hands, for they are the work of your hands, O Holy One.

        (Corlette M. Pierson)

PRAYER

*CHARGE AND BLESSING – Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE   Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise   Hymn #263

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes.
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.
