Third Sunday of Easter
May 4, 2003
GREETING, WORDS OF WELCOME, RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP, AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Praise the Lord. The Lords name be praised.
PRELUDE Prelude on Truro and Duke Street Cassler
CALL TO WORSHIP
Call on the name of the Lord in praise; Make known God's deeds among the nations!
Sing to God with joyful songs; tell of God's wonderful deeds!
Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.
Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
HYMN # 302 I Danced in the Morning Carter
*A TIME OF SILENT CONFESSION
*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN Redeeming God, you bring life out of dead ends, and hope in the midst of despair. Forgive us for doubting that you are still at work even in the darkest hour, even in the most painful moments. Forgive us for our hesitant action, our cautious compassion, our too-frequent reluctance. Redeeming God, teach us a stillness that leads to acts of kindness and clarity of vision. Shape in us a trust that leads to faithful witness and bold compassion. Form us in your love that loosens our worry and eases our anger. Make us true disciples filled with love, acting with justice, and living out hope. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON Everyone who is in Christ has become a new creation. The old is gone and the new has come. God, through Jesus Christ, has reconciled the world and gives us the ministry of reconciliation. Friends, believe the Good News that comes from God:
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE Gloria Patri Hymn # 579
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost:
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
PASSING OF THE PEACE
Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
