TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

The Service For The Lord’s Day
Bethel Presbyterian Church
Trinity Sunday
June 3, 2007
11:00 a.m.

GREETINGS, WORDS OF WELCOME, RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;

The whole earth is full of God’s glory.

PRELUDE

CALL TO WORSHIP

O Lord, our Lord, how exalted is your name in all the world!

Out of the mouths of infants and children your majesty is praised above the heavens.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars you have set in their courses –

What are we human beings that you should be mindful of us – mere mortals that you should seek us out?

Yet, you have made us but a little lower than the angels; you adorn us with glory and honor.

O Lord, our Lord, how exalted is your name in all the world!

PRAYER OF THE DAY

*HYMN #138  Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!   Nicaea

*CALL TO CONFESSION

*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN

Blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Our Creator, our Redeemer, and our Sustainer, yours is a perfect relationship, one God in three persons, mutual and whole. We confess that our relationships are not that way. We have been too selfish. Or we have given too much. Or we have accepted too little. We have failed to love after the manner of Jesus. We have let sin drive us away from one another and from you. We long for wholeness and peace and a sense of well-being, but our sin takes us in other directions. Forgive us and restore us. Pull us to you, with mercy and grace – pull us to you. Amen.

Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.

*RESPONSE

Thanks be to God,

In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

*PASSING OF THE PEACE

Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

And also with you.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – Taken from A Brief Statement of Faith

In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. Amen.

*HYMN #139   Come, Thou Almighty King   Italian Hymn

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S TABLE

GREAT THANKSGIVING AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Let us pray.

Warm weather is upon us and our choir is officially off for the summer. Bethel has a lot of untapped musical talent, both vocal and instrumental. And summer is a perfect time to invite those willing to share those talents with us during our worship services. A sign-up sheet is available for volunteers. Please pick a date to share your talents and sign up on the bulletin board in the back of the sanctuary. All volunteers will be much appreciated.

If you have used DVDs you have seen a few times that are just sitting on the shelf collecting dust, please consider donating them to our troops. There is a box located in the Narthex for your donations.

The annual Youth Auction will be June 10. Following the worship service the youth will host a luncheon followed by the auction. The youth will be selling their time and talents and would like to invite the congregation to contribute their time and talents as well.
