THE SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY
The Holy Trinity Sunday
June 15, 2003

GREETING, WORDS OF WELCOME, RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP, AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
The love of God has been poured into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

PRELUDE   My Father’s World      Sheppard

CALL TO WORSHIP    Psalm 104:24-35
       Welcome home.
           God bids us to come
       Find rest for our weariness,
Find peace deeper than our worry.
       Welcome home,
All you lost, wandering or stuck in despair.
       Welcome
To God's arms, as wide as a father's care, as warm as a mother's love.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

HYMN # 139   Come, Thou Almighty King      Italian Hymn

*A TIME OF SILENT CONFESSION

*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN – Faithful God, persistent friend, you weave so many wonderful people into our lives: fathers and mothers, children and youth, friends and neighbors, teachers and preachers. Yet do we stop to acknowledge them as blessings from God? Do we say a word of thanks or whisper a prayer of gratitude? Have we told our appreciation, written a word of encouragement, sung their praises? Faithful God, forgive us for taking anyone for granted. Give us eyes to see the miracles around us. Give us hearts that know you care for each and every one. Give us voices to sing our thanks. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON – (Based on Revelation 3:20)
God is giving birth to miracles in our lives, if only we would be open to them. Listen. God stands at the door and knocks, if we hear God's voice and open the door, God will come in and live with us offering us love and forgiveness and life. Let us believe the Good News of the Gospel –
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE Gloria Patri          Hymn # 579
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost:
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

PASSING THE PEACE – Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
           And also with you.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
