TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Let us sing to God who blesses us abundantly.

O God, give light to our eyes.

Trust in God’s steadfast love; rejoice in God’s salvation.

God meets us here and answers our soul’s longings.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

*HYMN #473   For the Beauty of the Earth   Dix

*CALL TO CONFESSION

When we are in bondage, God offers to set us free. When we are poor, God in Christ identifies with us and offers us riches money cannot buy. When we are lonely and discouraged, the Holy Spirit is our Comforter, pointing us beyond ourselves. Everyone who calls on God, our Creator and Parent, for help will be saved. Let us together seek the healing only God can provide.

(Silent Prayer)

*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN

Merciful God, we humble ourselves before you today to confess the ways in which we have failed. We have fallen short of your call to welcome all your children, to include enemies and even those different than we are. You have called us to give the cup of cold water to even the least, but we look the other way. You know our hesitations God. You know our fears and doubts and selfish ways. Forgive us and give us courage to serve you in all our actions. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

God hears our cries and forgives all who are penitent and believing. God provides the resources for our rescue and redemption. Whoever trusts God will not be disappointed. Whoever reaches out to others in the Spirit of Christ will know the joy of God’s love. You are forgiven. You are accepted. You are loved. Share these gifts.

Thanks be to God! In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

PRESENTATION

PROFESSION OF FAITH

*APOSTLES CREED

Do you believe in God, the Father almighty?

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ?

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?

I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
