TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

GREETING, WORDS OF WELCOME, RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

The love of God has been poured into our hearts

through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

PRELUDE   Brave Grace   Charlie Coen

CALL TO WORSHIP

Almighty God, we pray for your blessing on the church in this place.

Here may the faithful find salvation, and the careless be awakened.

Here may the doubting find faith, and the anxious be encouraged.

Here may the tempted find help, and the sorrowful comfort.

Here may the weary find rest, and the strong be renewed.

Here may the aged find consolation and the young be inspired.

We praise Jesus Christ our Lord.

Let us worship the living God.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

*HYMN #417   Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation   Regent Square

*CALL TO CONFESSION

The proof of God’s amazing love is this: While we were sinners Christ died for us. Because we have faith in him, we dare to approach God with confidence. In faith and penitence, let us confess our sin before God and one another.

*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN

When in our faith we fail you, O God, serving lesser things with the devotion that belongs only to you, Lord, have mercy upon us.

When our hope evaporates, and we fear each new day, forgetting that you have already defeated the powers that cause us to despair, Christ, have mercy upon us.

When we take your love for granted, or act as if we deserve it, or hoard it for ourselves, or resist the transformation it demands, Lord, have mercy upon us. God of faith, hope, and love, forgive our sin and cleanse us. By your Spirit make us new. Free us to live in obedience and trust, sharing the gift of new life through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE   Gloria Patri   Hymn #578

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

*PASSING OF THE PEACE

Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

And also with you.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITHApostle’s Creed (Traditional) Hymnal Page #14

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

*HYMN #515   Now to Your Table Spread   Love Unknown

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Let us pray.
