TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

The Service For The Lord’s Day
Bethel Presbyterian Church
Sixth Sunday after Pentecost
July 8, 2007
11:00 a.m.

GREETINGS, WORDS OF WELCOME, RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Whatever you do, in word or deed,

Do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus.

PRELUDE

CALL TO WORSHIP

Sing to the Lord, you faithful servants.

Give thanks to God’s holy name.

For God’s wrath lasts but the twinkling of an eye,

But God’s favor endures for a lifetime.

Weeping may spend the night,

But joy comes in the morning.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

*HYMN #423   Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun   Duke Street

*CALL TO CONFESSION

*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN

God of perfect love, You continually bring forth life, transforming sadness to joy, despair to hope, death to life. We look to you to change our hearts, to take away the sin that burdens us, and to restore us to the people you would have us be. We are weak, but you are strong. Our ways are flawed, but your ways are true. We are seldom right, but you are never wrong. Forgive us, redeem us, transform us, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE

Thanks be to God,

In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

Christ calls us to be disciples. In forming his people and sending them into the world Jesus called individuals to be disciples. They were to share the joy of his companionship, to understand and obey his teachings, and to follow him in life and death. We confess that Christians today are called to discipleship. Life shared with Christ and shaped by Christ is God’s undeserved gift to each of us. It is also God’s demand upon every one of us, never perfectly fulfilled by any of us. Forgiven by God and supported by brothers and sisters, we strive to become more faithful and effective in our daily practice of the Christian life. Amen.

SHARING OF CONCERNS AND PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
