Sunday Morning Worship Service
July 11, 2004
TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

PRAYER OF THE DAY Janet Nippert
*HYMN # 271 Many and Great, O God, Are Thy Things Laquiparle
*UNISON PRAYER OFCONFESSION Patricia Harvey
We gather today to praise God, who created all things, cares for us tenderly, and calls each of us to a life of service and ministry.
Let us give praise for God's gift of life, love, and meaningful work.
We also gather today to confess our failure to be the people God has created us to be.
O God, we are a wayward people. Too often we hear your call only to ignore it. We take perverse pleasure in destroying what you have created. We seek our selfish interests, personal pleasures, and short-term gains. We become enslaved by our desire for security. Forgive our lack of vision.Take away our stubbornness and our greed. Lead us in your ways, we pray, for your sake. Amen.
God says to us: You are my chosen ones. I love you! I am proud of you! Stand firm in your renewed commitment. Know that God has forgiven us; God has called us by name; we are God's children. We have entered into covenant with God and will dare to live the life to which God has called us! Hear this Good News . . .
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

We are all one in mission, We all are one in call,
Our varied gifts united By Christ, the Lord of all.
A single, great commission Compels us from above
To plan and work together That all may know Christs love.
We all are called for service To witness in Gods name;
Our ministries are different, Our purpose is the same:
To touch the lives of others By Gods surprising grace
So every folk and nation May feel Gods warm embrace.
Now let us be united And let our song be heard.
Now let us be a vessel For Gods redeeming word.
We all are one in mission, We all are one in call,
Our varied gifts united By Christ, the Lord of all.

Gracious God, children can be wonderful teachers. Help us to discover the joy of the diversity of gifts found in your family. By your grace, equip us with compassionate hearts. Grant us courage to secure justice and access for everyone. Most of all, we pray that you will help us to love one another as Christ loved us, just as we are. Enable us to listen to one another so that we may all learn a lot. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
