Sunday Morning Worship Service
July 13, 2003
To Our Guests, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

CALL TO WORSHIP
In caring and compassion, Gods arms embrace us when we feel weak and alone.
Let us open our arms to share that embrace with others.
With ideas and inspiration, God pushes us to grow and thrive.
Let us give that seed new roots by planting it in the soil of others lives.
With divine generosity, God shares all creation with us.
Let us share that bounty with all for whom God created.
God calls us as partners to build a world of joy and hope.
Let us build a world where our lives, and those of our sisters and brothers,
may resound in praise of our gracious God.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
*HYMN # 469 Morning Has Broken Bunessan
*A TIME OF SILENT REFLECTION
*UNISON CONFESSION OF SIN
Merciful God, in Jesus you have shown us the way of salvation, the joy of Christian fellowship, and the model of service to others. Yet we turn our backs on your gifts; we dishonor you in the way we treat our bodies; we bring harm to others through the choices we make; we cling to destructive habits and superficial values; we allow the opinions of others to control the way we think about ourselves. Forgive us, we pray. Remind us of your covenant love and fill us with the grace of new beginnings. Help us to rise to new life, so that we might live together in honesty, peace, and unity. In Jesus name, Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Hear the good news! Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun. Know that you are forgiven and be at peace.
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Amen.
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine! Hymn # 341
Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long. (repeat)

*HYMN # 436 We Are Your People Whitfield
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH A Brief Statement of Faith
We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba Father. In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in Gods image, male and female, of every race and people, to live as one community. But we rebel against God; we hide from our Creator. Ignoring Gods commandments, we violate the image of God in others and ourselves, accept lies as truth, exploit neighbor and nature, and threaten death to the planet entrusted to our care. We deserve Gods condemnation. Yet God acts with justice and mercy to redeem creation. In everlasting love, the God of Abraham and Sarah chose a covenant people to bless all families of the earth. Hearing their cry, God delivered the children of Israel from the house of bondage. Loving us still, God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant. Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child, like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home, God is faithful still. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

2003 YOUTH MISSION TRIP DEDICATION
More than ever there are reminders that things in our world have gone awry and that we, and all the earth, are in need of healing. We begin by offering ourselves to God to restore us to right relationship - with the creator and created - acknowledging that it is through Christ that all things are redeemed and restored.
Words from the 2003 Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study.
LITURGY OF DEDICATION
Let us affirm what we believe about Gods call.
We believe Abraham was converted when God called to test him and Abraham said, Here I am.
We believe Samuel responded when God called Samuel! Samuel! And Samuel said, Speak, for your servant is listening.
We believe the disciples began a new life when Jesus said to them, Follow me, and I will make you fish for people, and they immediately left their nets and followed him.
We believe a father made a statement of faith when Jesus acted to heal his son and the father of the child cried out, I believe; help my unbelief!
We believe a woman was healed when she touched Jesus through the crowd and knowing what had happened to her, came forward in fear and trembling.
We believe that Jesus came that we might have life, and have it abundantly.
We believe that in Gods love, where our sin increased, grace was given.
We believe that as we receive Christ Jesus, so we should live in Him, be rooted and built up in Him and be established in the faith.
We believe that God is able to provide us with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, we may share abundantly in every good work.
MISSION TEAMS AFFIRMATION:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the power at work within us and He is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine.
We believe in Gods blessing and building this world - one house at time, homes refashioned with care, roofs repaired with careful attention, wheel chair ramps built with attention to detail, and all projects attended to with love. We will do the work you have set before us in the power of the Holy Spirit, celebrating Gods care and love. We will do all of it dedicated to praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
PRAYER OF DEDICATION:
Loving and caring God, strengthen and protect these now before you. Bless the work of their hands, their hours of labor, and their deeds of care. Give them strong backs and willing spirits. Let them know the joy of helping, and the blessings of a work well done. In their work and in their worship, fashion in them a deeper appreciation for the struggles others face and increase their wisdom about the special-ness of all peoples. Bless their going and their returning home to us. In the name of the One who gave His life for all. Amen.
A FEW WORDS ABOUT OUR MISSION TRIP TO PACIFIC NORTHWEST CROSS CONNECTION
Pacific Northwest Cross Connection is a Christian summer outreach ministry for youth and adults, located to serve Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Combining a camping ministry with service, it provides mission outreach opportunities to youth and adults. The ministry conducts hands-on mission work in the area surrounding its base camp for those in need by building porches, wheel chair ramps, painting, and completing other sometimes not so small projects.ities.
Operating from beautiful Twinlow Camp, in Rathdrum, ID, Pacific Northwest Cross Connection provides its campers a fantastic outdoors experience while experiencing the joy of Christian service. Mission groups learn to share their faith with those they serve while strengthening Christ centered relationships within their mission team.
A vital part of the PNCC ministry is fellowship. Every evening, after a hard days work, worships are planned for the campers. Fellowship and worship oftentimes involve singing, games, skits, etc. Campers are given an opportunity to have fun, while growing closer to the Lord and each other. The result at the end of the week is a strong Christian community, bonded by faith, love, with Christ at the center.
Each camp week ends with a campfire and commitment service. That weeks newly formed Christian community of youth and adults spend time in sharing meaningful moments from the week, worship, take communion together, and then consider what it means to commit their lives to Christ, striving to live a life of mission and servanthood.
After a week of service to the people of Northern Idaho, our Youth Group will travel to Seattle, Washington for several days of sightseeing and time to enjoy the beautiful Northwest!
