TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

The Gathering and Greeting of God’s People

Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord,

People: Who made heaven and earth.

Prelude

Call to Worship

Leader: And God created the heavens and the earth.

People: And gave them to us to use and enjoy.

Leader: And God breathed into each of us, and set us upon the earth.

People: And God sent Jesus Christ to save us from the pull of death.

Leader: Everything that fills our souls with gladness and light is a gift from our Creator.

All: We have been entrusted with unfathomable riches. For all this our God is to be praised. Let us worship God together!

Call to Confession

Caring and compassionate Creator, we enter this beautiful place set apart for Your worship, knowing that we have failed to see You in other places. You alone know how often we have sinned – hear now the prayers of Your people…

Prayer of Confession

Creator God, in the beginning, You made the earth, and everything that is on it, and them proclaimed “It is good, very good”.

We thank You, dear Lord, that You made the earth and everything in it for good.

And as Your final act of creation You made people and gave us the responsibility for the
things on Your earth.

We are humbled to think, You allowed us to share in Your acts of creation.

But, we have not always treated Your creation with respect.

And now our earth is sick, and we have helped to make her sick by our misuse of the good gifts of God’s creation.

We waste Your good gifts of energy, of coal and oil and gas, when we use unnecessary lights, heat, or cooling.

O Lord, Have mercy on us.

We waste Your good gifts of energy, when we soak too long in a hot shower.

Lord, have mercy on us.

We waste Your good gifts of energy, when we overuse cars and trucks and buy bigger vehicles than we need.

O Lord, have mercy on us.

We waste Your good gifts of natural beauty, when we trash the roadsides and streams.

O Lord, have mercy on us.

We waste Your good gifts of bugs, birds, and blooms, when we misuse chemicals in our homes, yards, fields and churches.

O Lord, have mercy on us.

We waste Your good gifts of resources when we fail to recycle paper, aluminus, glass, and plastic.

Lord have mercy upon us,
Christ have mercy upon us,
Lord have mercy upon us.

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. Thanks be to God.

All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

Let There Be GREEN on Earth!

Let there be GREEN on Earth, and let it begin with me.

Let there be GREEN on earth, the GREEN that was meant to be.

With God our Creator, Care Ta-kers are we.

Let us work with our Father, in perfect harmony.

Let GREEN begin today, let this be the moment now!

With every breath we take, let this be our solemn vow:

To take each moment and live each moment for God eternally!

Let Green be lived by all, be lived by

You and Me!
