TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.

The Service For The Lord’s Day
Bethel Presbyterian Church
24th Sunday After Pentecost

Gathering and Greeting of God’s People

Prelude

Call to Worship

We will exalt you, O God our Sovereign,

Every day we will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.

Your reign is an everlasting reign; your dominion endures throughout all ages.

O Lord, you are faithful in all your words, and merciful in all your deeds.

Prayer of the Day

*Hymn of Praise # 464   Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee   Hymn To Joy

*Call to Confession:   (Rom. 5:8; Heb. 4:16)

The proof of God’s amazing love is this: While we were sinners Christ died for us. Because we have faith in him, we dare to approach God with confidence. In faith and penitence, let us confess our sin before God and one another.

*Prayer of Confession

Gracious God, You call us to faithful living, giving ourselves to you and to one another after the example of Jesus. Yet sin prevents us from following your directions. We pursue our own goals, worship our own gods, and place our hope in things that cannot last. Wash us anew. Forgive us again. Give us the courage to hear your call and the faith to follow where Christ leads. Amen.

Lord have mercy upon us,
Christ have mercy upon us,
Lord have mercy upon us.

*Assurance of Pardon

Leader: God’s Word to us is a word of forgiveness, a word of assurance, a word of grace. We are loved and accepted because we are who we are and God is who God is and nothing can finally separate us from our Creator, our Parent, our Sustainer.

People: Thanks be to God. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Amen.

A Moment with the Children   Rev. Pat Harvey

*Affirmation of Faith – Apostle’s Creed (Traditional)   Hymnal Page #14

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.

Amen.

9th Week ending 3rd November 2007

This was a good week! The rains have continued to fall. This was also the pay week and we got our pay amid a lot of struggles as our finances have really dilapidated.

The children had their second continuous assessment tests on Thursday and Friday this is the final C.A.T as they await their main final end of term exam.

All the school related activities took place as planned. We are now approaching the end of year and we continue to praise and thank the lord for his daily provisions. We are hopeful that our Christmas appeal for the children sent out to our friends and partners will continue to receive positive feedback.

The week ended well with no other incidents.

Be blessed!
Lilian Nderitu, Administrator
