Sunday Morning Worship Service
November 21, 2004
TO OUR GUESTS, we extend a warm welcome. We invite you to participate in signing our Friendship Folder, adding your address and phone number if you'd like to receive our church newsletter or a pastoral call. When we pray the Lord's Prayer at Bethel, we say "sins...sin against us" rather than "debts..." or "trespasses..."; during "a time for sharing" we welcome prayer requests from the congregation. On first Sundays each month, all who put their trust in Christ and who have received baptism in any Christian church are invited to share his sacred meal. We are glad you are with us. Please come again.
THE SERVICE FOR THE LORDS DAY
Christ the King Sunday
November 21, 2004
GREETING, WORDS OF WELCOME, RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of Gods glory.
PRELUDE
CALL TO WORSHIP
Out of the blue
God comes to us.
In the midst of turmoil
Jesus walks toward us.
As darkness closes in
The Spirit lights a way for us.
Out of the blue
Jesus comes through.
When times are tough
God is with us.
As questions arise
The Spirit is wise.
Let us raise our voices in prayer and song;
May our prayers and praise be loud and strong.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
*HYMN # 151 Crown Him With Many Crowns Diademata
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Wondrous God, forever seeking us, willingly forgiving us, we should be amazed at your grace. Yet how often we ignore your presence. We focus on keeping life in control, in balance, and get angry at the interruptions, the problems that ruin our plans, mess up our days. We never entertain the thought that you may be speaking to us in the turmoil, in the messiness of life. We are so bent on our desires and our plans that we squeeze you out. Holy God, you are there in all the circumstances of life. Open our eyes; help us come to our senses and trust your guiding hand. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus the King of Kings, we are forgiven. May the mercy of God, who forgives all our sins, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Let us affirm together:
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
